The Ten Year Rule is a coming of age comedy set in an affluent suburban town in Colorado. In this tale of love, friendship, family, and basketball, promising young athlete, James Jackson, certainly knows how to make an impression.

After James and his hard-working, single mother, Janet, move from their apartment in Virginia Beach to the affluent neighborhood of High Point, Colorado, he earns a spot on the varsity basketball team, immediately befriends fellow athletes, Johnny and E, is taken under the wing of superstar teacher and coach, Mr. Adamson, makes an enemy of the team’s star, and repeatedly humiliates himself in front of a beautiful and complicated soccer star named Talia - who, for whatever reason, enjoys his company. The world should be this young man’s oyster, but nothing is ever that easy for James.

Instead, James is tortured by his own insecurities, the pressures of courting a young woman who's already on the cover of Sports Illustrated, being a broke ass teenager trying to measure up to kids who have everything, and the need to live up to the expectations of a mentor who everyone idolizes. The weight of the world weighs heavily on the shoulders of this young man, and basketball season hasn't even started yet.

What remains to be seen is if our hero can get out of his own way in time to realize his superstar potential, seize the day with Talia, and become the bright young man everyone sees in him.

Based on a yet-to-be-published novel, this hilarious yet poignant film challenges our notions of fame, hero worship, and growing up in today’s social media fishbowl, all while trying to simply find love and acceptance.
